Qualifications

  • Experience working in a SEND setting
  • Hoist training and understanding of safe handling techniques
  • Knowledge of supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Familiarity with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent is desirable

Experience

  • Proven experience supporting pupils with ASC and SLCN
  • Previous work involving personal care responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to use hoist equipment safely and effectively
  • Experience creating supportive learning environments for pupils with varied needs

Job Specifics

This role is for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant who will support pupils in a SEND school in Kent. The successful candidate will work alongside teachers and support staff to deliver a nurturing and structured learning environment.

Responsibilities include assisting pupils with their daily routines, adapting activities to meet individual needs, and providing targeted support to promote communication, independence, and confidence. Personal care will form part of the role, requiring sensitivity, respect, and professionalism. Hoist training and the ability to support pupils with mobility needs are essential.

You will contribute to lesson delivery, small group work, and one-to-one support. Recording progress, managing behaviour positively, and building strong relationships with pupils are vital aspects of the position. The role also involves liaising with parents and external professionals to ensure consistency in care and education.
